Karin Kong

Year 3 Dual Language Co-Teacher & DL Coordinator

Karin graduated from Shanghai Normal University with a Master's degree in Education, where she demonstrated exceptional teaching prowess as an instructor in intensive Chinese reading and writing courses for international students. Following graduation, she joined Yew Chung International School (YCIS) for three years, serving as a Chinese Class Teacher in a bilingual co-teaching model, delivering English, Mathematics, and Inquiry-based curricula across primary year groups while spearheading native language programmes. Now in her fourth year at Wellington College, she actively contributes to cultural curriculum design and cross-grade Mathematics Inquiry lesson planning, steadfastly promoting bilingual education as a vehicle for cultural exchange. Her classrooms are characterised by a pedagogical philosophy that treats every child's progress as a celebration, fostering friendships through personalised learning experiences. Now serving as Dual Language Coordinator, she channels her passion into synthesising Chinese and British pedagogical approaches, dedicated to achieving the trifecta of Bilingual proficiency, Bicultural understanding, and Biliteracy development. Beyond the curriculum, Karin's devotion to preserving Chinese traditional crafts informs her teaching, as she integrates paper-cutting techniques into contemporary education frameworks.
