Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne in the north east of England, Michael is a passionate and enthusiastic UK-qualified primary school teacher. He studied language, literacy and communication (BA Hons) for three years at the University of Manchester, where he discovered his passion for teaching by taking part in a sports volunteer project delivering physical education lessons to primary school children. Michael has four years of teaching experience with the UK National Curriculum working in Key Stage 2: he began his career teaching year 5 at Bengeo Primary School in Hertford before moving up to year 6 and helping achieve two successive years of positive SAT results. Michael teaching philosophy is rooted in delivering dynamic, creative and engaging lessons where all children are encouraged to be independent learners who develop their individual curiosity and inquisitiveness. Outside of the classroom, Michael has organised and led many extra-curricular activities - mainly focused around sport and exercise - including coaching U12 football, cricket, rugby and basketball; chess club; setting up boys??reading clubs and running ICT Clubs. In his spare time, Michael enjoys travelling to new continents and countries to experience different cultures and customs and cannot wait to explore Shanghai and China!
