Having previously taught at Wellington Tianjin, when Shane Hambling heard the news that he secured a position at Wellington Shanghai, his first comment was: “I am coming home, home to Wellington and to China.” His previous experience working and living in China, a fascinating, fast-paced and exciting country, left him wanting more. He believes that to have the opportunity to live and work in what is arguably one of the greatest city in the world is a rare privilege and one that offers unique challenges and adventures. Shane is a qualified STA swim teacher and his previous international postings beside Tianjin, China included also Doha, Qatar. The Wellington swim department aims to develop techniques, fitness and passion not just for competitive swimming but also for a lifelong passion for all things aquatics for younger pupils, from those who are just learning to swim, all the way through to the elite swim squad members.
