Teacher of English Language Support

Marcela has experience teaching from Early Childhood to Upper Elementary in a variety of settings. Throughout her 22 years of teaching, she has experienced teaching different age groups and worked in different school systems in the US, Brazil and China. During all these years, she has worked with the British national curriculum, American Common Core, Montessori and IB. Marcela has led year-level teams and served as a workshop leader for a Montessori training center. She is highly collaborative, hardworking and passionate about supporting her pupils to feel successful and loved.

Marcela holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Acacia University in the US and a bachelor’s degree in education and school administration from UNIFIEO in Brazil. She also holds a post-graduate diploma from UNESP (Brazil) and a credential in advanced studies in Montessori education from the MECA-SETON Teacher Education Program (Chicago). Additionally, she is a lifelong learner and regularly takes part in continuous professional development including workshops on agency, phonics, readers and writers’ workshops and conceptual-based understanding in numeracy.

During her spare time, Marcela enjoys spending time with friends and family, eating Brazilian barbecue, dancing andchatting. She also enjoys traveling and exploring different cultures with her husband, daughter and son.
