Jess has been an English teacher for several years and has been working for the last three of them in a large comprehensive school in the town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, England. Here, she was responsible for the A Level literature and language courses in a large sixth form of over 300 pupils. Before that, she was Head of English at one of the UK?? top performing selective schools, Colchester County High School for Girls. Jess completed her degree in drama and English in Liverpool many moons ago and alongside developing a passion for all things literary and theatrical, she also met her husband, Luke. They are making this journey to Shanghai along with their son, Joe. Jess is really proud of the varied working life she has had to date. Past roles include being an actress and a midwife, as well as fostering children and running her own business. She is really looking forward to life in Shanghai and catching up with friends who are already teaching in China. She has a very long travel bucket list and is hoping that the next couple of years will see her able to tick off some destinations.
