Daniel Eldred
Deputy Head of Secondary School
Daniel Eldred was born in Gaborone, Botswana and lived there for most of his childhood before returning to the UK in 1999 to attend East Bergholt School and complete his GCSEs. Daniel studied fine art Sculpture at Kingston University and, after his degree, he spent a year exhibiting in Berlin and London. In 2007 Daniel enrolled at the Institute of Education, London and completed his PGCE in secondary art and design education. Daniel second teaching placement was to the Regent School, Bangkok, where he trained for six months; this was the experience that made him realise that he wanted to work in international schools. During Daniel?? time as a teacher he has continued to develop his subject knowledge; the most exciting of these opportunities was to train in special effects makeup at the London School of Media and Film. Daniel sees Wellington College International Shanghai as an opportunity to further develop and fine tune his teaching practice in a progressive education environment. As a leader in art and design education, Daniel feels it is important to expose pupils to a wide variety of media and processes. Daniel intentions are to try and make links to industry in every project undertaken across all Key Stages. The creative industry is vast and varied, so pupils should have the opportunity to see art and design from a variety of influences.
