Assistant Head (Teaching & Learning)

 

Oonagh graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Education degree from St. Patrick's College in Dublin. She continued her professional and academic development by completing a postgraduate diploma in Assessment, followed in 2017, by a Master of Teaching from Dublin City University. She taught primary school for 7 years in Dublin before moving the Abu Dhabi, UAE to teach at a leading British international school. While there, she took on the position of head of maths for the EYFS and primary school. She joined Wellington in 2019. With over a decade of experience, Oonagh brings a wealth of expertise, a multitude of knowledge and a deep understanding of pedagogy to the classroom everyday. Oonagh has previous experience working in settings such as SEN, EAL and in a native language immersion school. Outside of teaching, Oonagh enjoys singing and playing music, cooking and spending quality time with family and friends. She loves to travel and avails herself of every opportunity to visit new places. She takes a keen interest in other cultures and believes teaching is a great way to educate through life experience and cultural context.
