Peter Murison

Second Master

Peter Murison joined Wellington College International Shanghai from Jeppe High School for Boys in Johannesburg, South Africa, in the position of Second Master. Serving as Senior Deputy Headmaster at his previous school, Peter oversaw numerous portfolios, including daily operations, logistics and planning, student affairs, boarding, discipline and staff management as well as teaching English. Before working at Jeppe, he enjoyed a successful period at two other prestigious South African schools, St John's College and Wynberg Boys High School.

Peter began his teaching career at Wellington College in England in 2007, working as the resident assistant in the Lynedoch boarding house, as Assistant Director of Sport and as an educator in both the History and Politics Departments. Before starting his teaching career, Peter qualified with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Cape Town, with majors in political science, sociology and media and creative writing. He completed his PGCE through the University of South Africa, as well as completing a TEFL course and spent 18 months working in Icheon-Si, South Korea.

A passionate educator, Peter has spent his entire life in and around school with both his parents having been educators and school leaders. He is passionate about helping young people to grow into the best versions of themselves and giving them the tools they need to make a positive contribution to the world. He enjoys a healthy and active lifestyle — running and training whenever possible — as well as being a lifelong learner, engaging with people, cultures and communities wherever possible.
