U13 girls runners up in SSSA football tournament!

Last weekend, the U13 girls football team travelled to SUIS GB for the last SSSA football tournament of the season. Conditions on the day itself were hot and therefore tiring, but the girls steeled themselves and with the solid backline of Lucy, Stefania and Sophie in goal, they won their first three games (against KCIS, SUIS PD and SUIS GB) without conceding a single goal. The goals scorers in these three matches were: Annabelle, Jade and Matilda with two goals. The fourth match was against SCL and despite the fact that the Wellington girls dominated much of the match, they conceded an early goal which they couldn’t quite pull back from, and ultimately lost the match 2-0 after conceding a second goal. The final game which Wellington needed to win in order to claim the first spot finished 0-0. Despite having equal points with the winning team, our girls finished in second place due to their goal difference of a solitary goal. Although they missed out on the top spot by the very narrowest of margins, all the girls should be hugely proud of their outstanding efforts, in particular Lucy who was excellent at the back.
