C1 and C2 teams compete in CISSA cross river tournament

12 Apr 2017
Last weekend, over forty upper prep and senior pupils travelled to different locations to compete in the CISSA volleyball cross river event: a festival of volleyball consisting of friendly matches played between schools throughout the Puxi area. The C1 boys and girls travelled to CISS, where the girls fought hard across many close matches and managed a win against HIS, while the boys acquitted themselves well by beating YCIS GB and losing narrowly to BISS Puxi by two points. Congratulations are in order for Stefania, Coco, Will and Owen, who were declared the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of their respective teams. The C2 boys headed to SCIS HQ where they managed two wins and suffered two defeats. Sam and Matt were declared the MVP duo for the C2 boys. The C2 girls sent two teams and both were at SAS Pudong, where they played a total of 10 games, winning four matches. Congratulations go to Agnes and Clara for making the MVP team. For many of our players, this tournament represented their first introduction to volleyball at the start of the term. Happily, the experience seems to have kindled a real passion for the sport and a solid skill base is rapidly being developed – which bodes well for Wellington volleyball in the future. Congratulations to all of our pupils who were involved in this hugely exciting and engaging tournament.
