Gold medals for Wellington athletes at SSSA athletics

16 Jun 2017
Wellington College International Shanghai recently played host to the Shanghai School Sports Association (SSSA) athletics championships, welcoming athletes from other Shanghai schools to come and compete against our own pupils. Both the weather and the turnout were excellent on the day, which drew over 40 athletes together for a tournament marked by spectacular sportsmanship, skill, grit and determination. While the overall standard of athleticism was very high, plenty of Wellington pupils overcame fierce competition from the visiting schools and came away with the following individual gold medals: U11 Aimee (Shot Put), Grace (Long Jump), Max (Long Jump, 70m, 300m), Alex L (High Jump), Alex E (600m), Tommaso (1000m), James (Javelin) and Zhi Wei (70m) U13 Jade (Long Jump, 70m), Shan Wei (Shot), Annabelle (800m), Daniel (Long Jump) U15 Gerard (High Jump, 100m), Luna (High Jump), Amelia (800m) and Coco (400m) Congratulations to all of the medal winners and participants who made Wellington proud thanks to their integrity, courage and respect for their fellow athletes.
