Wellington finishes 5th in SSL Swim League Championships

15 Mar 2018
The Wellington Swim Squad were recently in action, with 50 swimmers competing in the SSL Championship Swim Meet held at SAS Pudong: the most important meet of the season and the culmination of the Shanghai Swim League. Given the very high standard of the competing teams, it was a great opportunity for our swimmers to beat their personal best and demonstrate the value of their intense training that they have maintained throughout the year. Wellington finished 5th overall from a pool of 15 competing schools. This was an excellent result, made possible by the combined efforts of the entire team, but particular mention goes to Tommaso and Agnes, who both finished third in their respective age groups. The team also managed to take home a sizeable collection of medals. The medal winners are as follows: Agnes Yu: 1 gold, 2 silver Tommaso Colombo: 1 gold, 1 silver Jade Franetzki: 1 gold, 1 silver Ettore Colombo: 1 silver Damian Tang: 1 bronze Aimee Qi: 1 silver Anna Qi: 1 silver The swim squad should be rightly proud of their performance as a team and as individual swimmers. It was gratifying to see all of their hard work and training pay off at such a prestigious event, one that featured many of the best teams in Shanghai. Well done everyone!   Nick Starbrook Director of Sport Wellington College International Shanghai
